Pocket Nature

Not much new to add since my last post as I haven’t had a lot of time to get out to shoot. I was working on the house while my family was overseas, and unfortunately that took up most of my free time over the last few weeks. That said, everyone came back last week and while relaxing a bit at a local park I took these few snaps with the G10. Came out pretty good although maybe not the most scenic of locations. Still, I like all the greenery, and it makes a nice desktop background, so there ya’ go.

As for the G10, I have to say I really like it — I carry it with me most of the time, and while the images are nowhere near the D3 or D200, they don’t suck either. And I’m amazed at the IS on it, it really is effective, though that’s probably partly due to the high depth of field that the small sensor lends to the mix. Still these were at 1/15 sec or longer, and they’re very sharp, so well done I say.

If I can only find the Pot o’ Gold . . . .

Ok, corny title, but it works. Today I was planning on going and shooting the Night Of Fire at the local drag track, but with a 1.5 hour drive to look forward to and the threat of rain looming, I bailed. Sux, but with the rain came the beautiful consolation prize pictured below. Snapped this w/ the G10 from my back porch, though the vantage point was less than excellent. From my dad’s place though, you could see it was a full 180 degree double rainbow, and it was huge and very brilliant. No firey jet cars tonight it seems, but I am satisfied.

Cruisin’ (UPDATED w/ pics)

Posted in General on June 6, 2009 by emasterphoto

Went to a local Cruise Night and dance here in town. Got some nice shots from the rides that were there as well as met some fine people to boot. Here’s a few of my favorites from the day’s take:

studebaker

corvair

flathead

ranchero

And one that isn’t an auto shot, but from the vintage dancehall that the event was held at:
